James Nelson Bleak 1948 ~ 2018
James Nelson Bleak was born on in September of 1948 to James Glen Bleak and Dawna Marie Dial Robbins. He graduated from Highland High in 1966 and the U of U in electrical engineering in 1973. Jim served in the US army in Vietnam from January 1967 to September 1969. He came home and married his next-door neighbor and sweetheart Anelle Christensen in 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He worked for General Dynamics, Evans and Sutherland, and Rockwell and Collins. He served a LDS mission with his wife in the Washington D.C. Temple. He loved photography, hiking, boating, basketball and volleyball, and serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jim loved serving with the young men and scouts. He served in many callings but his favorite calling was leading the ward choir.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Leath Robbins, Sisters Lisa Bleak Jones, and Marsha Bleak Olson, and Brother Steven Mark Bleak.
He is survived by his wife Anelle Bleak, children Jill (Martin) Locke, Steven (Jessica) Bleak, Sarah (John) Henrikson, Jennie (Kent) Hyer, Sandy (Dan) Lewis, and Becky (Mat) Child, 25 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and Glen (Marjean) Bleak, sister Margaret Bleak Snyder, step-siblings Kevin (Sandy) Robbins, Jay (Pam) Robbins, Brett (Gayle) Robbins, Bart (Susan) Robbins, (Ryan) Lorna Anderson, and (Kirk) Jennie Mitton
Jim passed away on April 30, 2018 following a year-long battle with brain cancer. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and social workers at Intermountain Medical Center and the loving care provided by Procare Home Health and Hospice.
There will be a viewing at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM at 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC. The funeral service will be at the Highland Park Ward, 2535 South Douglas Street, SLC, UT May 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a viewing at 10:00 AM.

Marsha Draper (Fryer)
Grew up with Jim in my neighborhood and ward in the Sugarhouse area. He and his wife Anelle (Christensen, HH class of '67) have been great friends for 60 years. Jim accomplished so much during his life; we have so much to thank him for through his 2 1/2 years of service in Vietnam. He helped raise an awesome family and as his obit tells, he and Anelle were very busy grandparents with 25 grandchildren. He served well through his example to his family, youth, church, and community. Our circle of friends have met socially from time to time and it was always great catching up with Jim and Anelle and there busy lives. They recently returned from a LDS mission in Washington DC. As a matter of fact, he had to miss our 50th reunion, and called me to tell me how sorry he was about that, but was on the website. In DC, he ran into one of our class of '66 classmates, and got her the information for the website, and she was able to get on it! Very cool. He did love his Highland High time! RIP dear friend!!
