I can't believe she's gone!  Chris was from Irving jr and I was from Hillside jr... We met at Highland for 9th grade...  She was always pleasant but liked the older classmen... We will miss her.

i knew Chris quite well. I met her in 10th grade. Yes she liked one particluar boy. She fell in love with him. they were inseparable. I met him through her. I always thought they would end up getting married. things didnt work out. And when she signed my yearbook sr year, i remember her saying in the book i will always love dan. her life reminded me so much of the novel splender in the grass.  I saw chris at the 20th. She looked good, but i wondered to myself she just didnt seem so happy. Chris was one fine lady.

I remember Chris mostly in Jr. High.  Her family was the only I knew of with a bomb shelter buried in her back yard.  I thought that was pretty cool.  She sometmes walked home from Irving with Lori Duncan and I.  One day she had been invited to a party and she asked Lori if she could borrow Lori's retainer.  She thought that she would look good wearing a retainer.  Lori graciously decined.

I remember when Chris and her brother, Rhinhart moved to Salt Lake from Germany.  She was in third grade and always wore such perfect braids!  I also remember that her family had a bomb shelter in their back yard. She seemed to speak perfect English and was quite smart. Chris was always so friendly and went to Garfield, Irving JR., and then Highland with many of us. She had many friends and was so kind to everyone..  Sadly, I lost track of her after high school, but I was very sad to see her obituary in the paper when she died. RIP, sweet Chris

Chris and I were close friends during high school.  Dan H. was her world.  She had a strange home life though, in that her father owned a vicious German Shepherd that had attacked Chris on at least one occasion, badly scarring her entire arm.  She felt very threatened by the dog, and an alarm system had been installed in her house so she could buzz when she left her room, or went upstairs.   At that point her father would restrain the dog or lock it in another room.   I always felt bad that her dad kept the dog knowing how much it hated Kris.  I must have forgotten about the bomb shelter.

Chris Skowronek was a good friend and really fun during those maturing days of high school.  We skipped Lagoon to party in Brighton on that last senior day.  Yep....she really cared for Dan and carried his letters to class daily.  Chris was a survivor.  Just not long enough.

Chris was one of my best friends in elementary school. We had some great times together. She was so outgoing and fun to be with.
