Mary Jeanne Moss Joos  Born June 23, 1948  Died August 27, 1968

Buried Salt Lake City Cemetery

Mary's sister, Nancy Moss Summers provided this write-up for us regarding Mary:

Mary Jeanne Moss was married on July 1, 1967, to Melvin Blaine Joos in El Paso Texas.  He was stationed in the Army at Fort Bliss.  In September she and Mel came home for his grandfather's funeral.  She hadn't been feeling well.  She said she was having difficulty breathing.  After they were back in El Paso, she went to the Dr. on base.  She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease.  She suffered through multiple surgeries and radiation treatment over the following year.

June 11, 1968, she and Mel were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  She passed away August 27, 1968, in University of Utah Hospital..

Mary was a good friend in junior high especially. We were surprised when she married so young, but then better understood when she died at such a young age. She was able to enjoy married life for awhile before she contracted lymphoma (I think). Marj McEwan and I sang at her funeral. She was a fun-loving young woman.

I  was sad I couldn't find an obit for Mary, but happy to finally find her gravestone.  Thanks For your comments, Ladies, very cool that you remember singing at her services, Laurel, and that you know how she died; I had wondered, she was so young!!  She was always a sweet girl at school, I always liked her....

Mary was one of my best friends.  I,too, sang at her funeral.  Her husband was in the Army stationed in Texas.  It was when she tried to start her family that she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, which is mostly curable in today's world.  I've missed her sweet smile and laugh these many years.

I am Mary's sister.  She is not buried in Draper, but in the Salt Lake City Cemetary.  She had been married 13 months at the time of her death.  I remember her friends.  It was nice to see your comments.

Certainly one of my very best friends.  Can't say enough good about her.  Kind, generous, excellent character.  Still miss her to this day.
