Barbara Plath (Abdon)

Barbara Jean Plath Abdon 1948 ~ 2009 Barbara passed away late June 15, 2009 in Bellevue, Washington, in the arms of her loving husband, following a courageous battle with cancer for almost four years. Barb was born on August 6, 1948 to Harry and Ellen Plath in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up on Berkeley Street, and played countless hours with her friend Nancy. With her family, she spent countless hours hiking the mountains, meadows and lakes of Flaming Gorge, along with the Hannis and Williamsens, close family friends. She graduated from Highland High School in 1966, and married her eternal partner, John Abdon, in 1970. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was the beginning of a wonderful adventure. They lived for almost a decade in Saudi Arabia, traveling around the world and finally settling down in Bellevue, Washington. They have raised nine wonderful children, and have two beautiful grandchildren. Barbara touched lives wherever she went, and her friends are legion. She was an extraordinary artist, loving fiber and fabric, drawing and painting, clay and jewelry. But, she loved her family more than all else in life, and showed that love with constant good humor, endless housework, all accomplished with that same artistic touch. An excellent photographer, Barbara left thousands of wonderful images of the many people she loved so dearly. She is survived by her husband and nine children: Forest, Nathanael, Emily, Mckenzie, Tyler, Tobias, Tucker, Hannah, and Logan. Also survived by her mother and sister, Shirley (Ron) Cottam. She was preceded in death by her father, and nephew, Jeremy. Funeral services were held in Issaquah, Washington on June 20th, and the committal took place at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
