Bill Echols

William L. Echols, 69, unexpectedly passed away on June 19, 2017. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017, starting at 11:00 am, with the viewing at 9:30 am at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N University Ave, Provo, UT.  Surviving are his wife, Saneh, and children, William, Micah, and Courtney.

Here is more information about Bill, and what he did after high school.  Written by himself:

I worked my way through college by working in Alaska, 1968, 1969, & 1970; returning the first two years to Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho; then to B.Y.U. Provo, Utah. After returning from Alaska 1970 I met a real nice cute girl born & raised in the Fiji Islands of East Indian descent. I followed her to Hawaii in January 1971, drove taxi cab in Honolulu til August 1971, married her in the Hawaiian Temple then attended Church College of Hawaii until December 1972. I then visited her Father (mother passed on) and families in Suva Fiji Islands for two weeks, then back to Provo, Utah for my last semester of college. Graduating with a B.S. in Accounting & Business Management.

Move to Phoenix, Arizona and worked in various accounting positions, none really working out very good. Son William J. was born; then left Arizona, to Provo, Utah, then to Anchorage, Alaska in April 1975.

I got an accounting job with a telephone utility company (RCA Alaska Communications) where I worked for 5 and 1/2 years. My son Micah S. was born there too. Then I went to a utility consulting company (RAI) Public Utility Consulting Company) for one year.

A job came up for a Utility Analyst with the Iowa State Commerce Commission in the Telephone Rate section where I worked for two years 1981-1983. This was a telephone regulation position testifying on the witness stand in formal rate proceedings before the Iowa State Commerce Commission. My daughter Courtney P. was there in Des Moines, Iowa.

After divestiture of At&T from the Bell Operating Companies, a new organization arose looking for folks with my background; called the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA). I worked there for two years; then moved back to Utah operating a vending video game business that I owned.

My wife and I started a Child Day Care Center titled "All Aboard-The Training Junction Inc"; that we operated for over 15 years; then closed the business and went to tour Europe for 3 weeks.

We came home and semi-retired living in our little house here in Provo, Utah for now more than 26 years.

Bill's wife Saneh, sent me an email a few days ago letting me know about Bill's untimely death.  He had an accident on a riding lawn mower.  I didn't know Bill at all in high school, but through the 50th reunion had become acquainted with him, and he and his wife and family were very devoted to each other.

Very sad to hear about losing another Ram, RIP, Bill, and may God be with your beautiful family!

I recently re-connected with Bill a few months ago in SLC when I drove up to the VA from St. George.  We went to lunch and spent a fews hours catching up on life and of course the crazy stuff we did at Highland - I hadn't seen him since '66 - he was still the same old guy (little older maybe).  Talk about cars, girlfriends, jobs, doubling to the drive-in, camping out in the canyons, rabbit hunting and of course cruising State.  He was about to pickup his motorcycle and come down and visit . . . never made it.  Bill you will be missed.  My condolances to Saneh and family.
