David C. Andersen

1948~- 2018

David Curtis Andersen, a loving son, brother, and father, passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 69. He is survived by his mother Dorothy Spencer Andersen; son Michael (Alece) Rutherford, daughter Danielle Andersen; step-daughter Angie (Jay) Sanderson; former wives Deborah Williams, Judy Sorenson, Sally Rutherford, and Barbara Andersen; brother Jon (Leslie) Andersen; niece Erin (Sam) Clark; and nephew Daniel Andersen. Preceded in death by his father Cyril F. Andersen and his brother Paul Spencer Andersen.

David was born August 25th, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. A remarkably gifted transportation and product designer, David loved to learn about and draw cars from a very young age, leading him to eventually win a prestigious Fisher Body Award at the age of 18; graduate from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California with Honors; and establish design agencies and business associations with numerous leading clients. David was a true innovator and held many patents over his lifetime. His first patent was awarded while he was still in high school and his last just a week ago.

As a young man, David served a mission for the LDS Church in the Florida - Tallahassee mission where he would watch the Apollo launches in awe from Titusville. He served faithfully and diligently as a High Priest and Home Teacher.

With an unrelenting passion for far-reaching technologies, David was also an unabashed Star Trek and Comic-Con fan, sharing his love and interests with his children. In recent years, he lived with and selflessly cared for his mother Dorothy. We will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16th at the Indian Hills Ward Chapel (1320 Wasatch Dr., Salt Lake City 84108) at 11 a.m., with a viewing beforehand from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 E. 1300 S. SLC, UT 84108). Burial will be at Logan Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
