Mike Jensen

Michael J Jensen, 76, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on February 1, 2024. Born on November 13, 1947, in Salt Lake City, he was the son of Marjorie Sutherland Jensen and Floyd B. (Shum) Jensen. Michael attended Highland High School in Salt Lake City and later attended the University of Utah.

Growing up on Hillcrest Avenue in Salt Lake City, Mike was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mike was one of the original Gulley Boys having many adventures down in the gulley, which would later become I-80. He had fond memories of summers at his Aunt Larue's riding horses, shooting 22's, fishing, and camping. He would win a baseball state championship while at Highland High, the only time a team from Highland has done so. After high school, he went on to play baseball at the University of Utah and pledged to the fraternity Sigma Chi where he was a lifelong member. He served in the Air National Guard from 1965 to 1969. He was proud of his military associations and the time he spent serving his country.

Mike embarked on a successful career in the Title Insurance business. As a third-generation Titleman, he dedicated fifty years to the industry. He initially worked alongside his father and brothers before eventually running multiple companies. Mike's passion and expertise led him to establish Legacy Land Title. Later in life, Mike had the opportunity to work for Frank Ivory a dear friend at Cottonwood Title.

Outside of his professional life, Mike had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid golfer, runner, and fisherman, and enjoyed playing both baseball and softball. Mike enjoyed working in the garden and Trimble creek where he spent many hours making their yard the envy of the neighborhood.

Mike's devotion to his family was evident throughout his life. He was married to his loving wife, Lyn (Norton) Jensen, for 53 years. Together, they raised three children: Jennifer (Andrew) Capener, M'Lisa (Edward) Ekstrom, and Michael (Jennifer) Jensen. He also cherished his fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy as a dedicated family man, accomplished professional, and passionate individual will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask and appreciate donations be made in his honor to the Intermountain Healthcare Research Foundation for the Heart and Lung Program.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the River Oaks 5th Ward, 8950 South 1300 West in West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will take place at the church prior to funeral services beginning at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Millcreek, Utah.

Funeral services will be streamed via Zoom for those wishing to attend virtually. To watch the services, please click the "Watch Services" link above.

I grew up with Mike and we were friends from grade school. We grew up in the same area and stake but different wards. Lot of good memories of playing in the gully and competing in church softball and basketball. After High School a group of us joined the Air National Guard together. We had a lot of fun at our lunches remembering the good times in the guard. Mike was a great friend and will be missed. Love and prayers for Lyn and the family.

Mike was a good friend of mine. I played a lot of baseball, little league and Cop's league... Was not good enough to play for Highland,,, I attended his Funeral (on Tuesday).... It was a closed casket... I did go to the Cemetary (on Highland Drive) way up on the East side (had never been way up there before). A fraternity brother read about 20 pages (was very cold).... He was an amazing guy that cared deeply for his family and many Grandkids. LeGrand
