Bountiful, UT Josie Koulis Browning, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on October 1, 2021.

She was born October 4, 1948, in Croatia (the former Yugoslavia) and immigrated to the United States in 1957. After graduating from Highland High School in 1966, Josie attended the University of Utah where she met her husband, Evan Browning. Together, they had two children: Michelle and Andy. After Evan's untimely death, Josie dedicated her life to raising her children and giving them a wonderful life.

Josie's true joy and happiness came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sleepovers, Ramen, Winegar's shopping trips, bowling, and Village Inn with G-ma Jo will always be treasured memories.

Josie is survived by her children: Michelle Browning (Richard Haarbrink) and Andy (Becky) Browning; grandchildren: Jaden (Sean), Mason, Ashton, Evan, Gracie, Emma, Jayden, Taegan, and Cambree; great-grandchildren: Hyde, Delle, and Lucca; sister Dovey (Robert) Busico; nieces: Brittney and Brooke; sisters-in-law, friends, and her family in Croatia.

Her family would like to especially thank Lyndsy, Heather, and Rose from Inspiration Hospice for their care and support over these last few months.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Eaglewood Golf Course (1110 East Eaglewood Drive, North Salt Lake). We invite all who loved and admired Josie to come celebrate her and remember her amazing life.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Josie by creating memories with your family as she did. I knew Josie well in junior and senior high school.  I used to walk to and from Hillside Jr. with her and her sister Dovey.  As so often happens, I lost track of her after graduation.  I am glad she had such a good life.

I am so sorry that I did not know Josie better at Highland.  I am thankful for her kindness to me and remember her in some of my classes.  In reading of her obituary, it sounds that her kindness continued throughout her life and her devotion to her family became her legacy.  A good example for us all.

Josie was one of the girls I ran with in junior high and high school. We always had so much fun, making divinity, going to movies, chasing boys. I've often wondered how her life turned out. Sounds like it was a great one.
