JOHN WATSON WHITE 1948 - 2024
John Watson White passed away June 27, 2024. He was born on March 28, 1948 to Frank P. and Beula T. White in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was his sister, Evadna’s, favorite brother. He married Susan Elkington (later divorced), they had two children, Travis J. and Vickie A. He later married Jeneal Wilson and gained a step-daughter, Jeanette.
John was thoughtful, dedicated and deliberate with everything that he did, and was an example to anyone with whom he crossed paths. He was patient, kind, quiet spoken, gentle and generous with his time. These attributes made him and outstanding family man and friend. John was a loving husband, a compassionate father and an amazing grandfather. He also loved to spoil his grand-dog, Shep.
John played basketball and baseball throughout his life and passed that love along to others, most decidedly to all 3 of his children through coaching. He could be found enjoying a Salt Lake Trappers, and later the Bees game with a hot dog and coke in hand. But the sport John will forever be remembered for is golf and his passion for playing and watching. He was an excellent golfer, and was fortunate to hit the links often, even getting the elusive hole-in-one.
John was a gifted jeweler, boasting a 37-year career with O.C Tanner Manufacturing. During his time at Tanners he was able to work with and mentor many people, fostering enthusiasm for their work and creating life-long friends. The last role he held in his career was that of Manager of the Ring Department, and was highly respected by his team. Due to his methodical and intelligent approach to managing money, John was able to retire early, and spend more time with his family, golfing and maintaining his lovely yard and gardens.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Evadna Isom (Bruce), and his daughter Vickie.
John is survived by his wife of 40-years, Jeneal Wilson, former wife, Susan Roberts, his son Travis White (Debbie), step-daughter, Jeanette Hartvigsen, son-in-law, Roger Sheets, grandchildren, Casey Sheets, Kelsey Sheets, Toby Hartvigsen, Scout Hartvigsen, John and Michelle Grant, and great-grandchildren C.J. and Rileigh Grant. And many work friends, golf buddies and neighbors. The positive impact he had on friends and family leaves a lasting tribute to who he was.
In lieu of flowers, please go golfing with a friend and hit one onto the fairway and sink a putt, or go to a ball game in memory of him.
