Jan Van Houten Prehn

I lived in California for 37 years where I was first a student and then an assistant Dean of Education at Stanford U., and finally I finished my various occupations as a middle school teacher in Palo Alto.
Now I have moved to Leesburg, Virginia where I live in the company of my daughter and her family. Since I really adore all of them, I consider myself to be incredibly lucky. (I have a daughter and two sons, four grands, and two GREAT grands!)
I like the "South," y'all. The first question that was was asked when I moved here was "Do y'all Ri-ide?" Hounds and horses are big out here. Unfortunately I do not ride, or maybe, fortunately....

My school story: I moved from Idaho Fallls to begin 10th grade at the illustrious Highland High School (arguably the best high school in Salt Lake City.). I did not know anybody and was very much a small fish in a big pond. But Highland was good to me and I came away with many splendid memories and more good friends. I knew a lot of people that did not know me which is probably true of all of us who did not attend elementary school or junior high in SLC. Later I graduated from the U. of U. after bouncing around a couple of other colleges.
Because I am a sort of "half-full" kind of person, I was able to drift around happily from one adventure to the next.
I do not have any military experience but I wish that I did (because I live so close to Washington DC and The Pentagon.)
